Linden Labs has announced it will terminate the use of Gacha machines – one of the most popular sales mechanisms in Secondlife from the end of August 31, 2021.

Citing a changing regulatory climate they have madd the decision to sunset the sales mechanism know as gacha machines. Multiple countries have make legislation to forbid the use of loot boxes, of which Gacha machines are a form, and more countries and US states will follow.

We carry the announcement here as the same legislation will apply also to OpenSim grids, and we encourage grid owners to familiarize themselves with the legislation of the country they operate their grid from, and if relevant, terminate the use of, or warn users from legislations where loot boxes are forbidden to stay away from such mechanisms.
